Wallace Woodriff “Chip” Sanford IV
June 16, 1976 – July 19, 2025

Chip Sanford, 49, of Orange,  passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 16, 1976, in Charlottesville, Chip spent the majority of his life working on the family farm, Kenwood, where he cultivated a deep connection to the land. In the later years of his career, he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Total Development Solutions.

Chip found joy in the outdoors—whether working, hunting, or fishing. He was an avid hunter, always ready for the next season, and cherished the quiet moments spent in nature. A passionate fan of NASCAR, Chip never missed a race, and his love for motorsports was matched only by his unwavering loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys.

He will be remembered for his love of the land and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. Chip’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Chip is survived by his wife, Michelle Sanford of West Virginia; his parents, Monk and Carolyn Sanford of Orange; his sister, Carmon Jenkins and husband Larry of Orange; his twin sister, Carri Fanning and fiancé Bill Renaud of Gordonsville; his uncles, Lyle Sanford of Orange and Bill Slaughter of Gordonsville; and his best friend, Buck Corbin. He also leaves behind his nieces, Skylar Pritchett, Amber LaCava, Carly Jenkins, Chandler Renaud, Skylar Renaud, and Calli Fanning; stepdaughters, Kayla Anderson and Sierra Curfman; and step-grandchildren, Brixton Anderson and Tyten Anderson.

A memorial funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at the Preddy Funeral Chapel in Orange. Rev. John Edwards and Philip Frazer will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Orange Food Pantry, 352 Blue Ridge Dr., Orange, VA 22960.

Preddy Funeral Home of Orange is assisting the family.
