Margaret "Peggy" Yvonne Johnson Racer               August 5, 2023

Margaret “Peggy” Yvonne Racer, 85 of Madison, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023 at her residence. She was born December 19, 1937 to the late Charles Bryan Johnson and Effa Ada Robey Johnson. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Beverly Brooks Racer, four brothers, Milton Curtis Johnson, Vernon Ford Johnson, Claude Leon Johnson, Charles Bryan Johnson, Jr.; and a sister, Ethel Mae Johnson Jenkins.

She was a member of Mt. Zion Community Church at Oak Park.

She is survived by her daughters, Tanya Racer Hurt, Beverly Racer Salmon and husband William “Billy, and Robyn Racer Shifflett all of Madison; Grandchildren Tiffany Clark, Joshua Hurt, Tyler Hurt, Brooke Cyr, Katy Salmon, Collin Shifflett, Maggie Salmon, Cagney Shifflett; great-grandchildren, Jillian Clark, Jamison Hurt, Maddux Clark, Bodie Hurt, Bella Hurt, Charlotte Cyr, Hazel Edelman, Corinne Cyr, Mox Edelman and Callen Cyr.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Mt. Zion Community Church with interment in the Church Cemetery. Pastor Jeff Tucker will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 1 to 2 pm, at the church.

The family would like to thank the special care givers, Robyn Shifflett, Tiffany Clark and Heartland Hospice nurses, Rachel Richard, Heather Norwood and Pastor Sam. A special thank you to Fannie Utz. We sincerely appreciate everyone’s love and kindness shown to our mother and family.
