It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Judith (Judy) Lynn Dixon – loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend – on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at her home in Madison County, Virginia. She was in her 74th year. Born on February 20,1950, Judy was a daughter of the late John Henry Dixon of Madison County and Jean Adell (Judd) Dixon of Culpeper County. Judy grew up on the “Tucker Dixon” dairy farm with her younger siblings, William Henry (Billy) Dixon (deceased), and Betty Jean Dixon.

After graduating from Madison County High School, Judy became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her love of babies and children guided her to positions with pediatric and family practices in Charlottesville, Madison and Culpeper counties, and with Woodberry Forest School. She ventured to Connecticut for a year but was not fond of the winters so returned to her hometown.

In addition to being a caring and compassionate nurse, Judy was an enthusiastic photographer, once completing a photography class aboard a sailboat in Maine. She offered her services for weddings and portraits, and she became the family documentarian capturing all the special moments - weddings, graduations, births and birthdays, Christmas mornings - she ensured that the significant and insignificant moments were caught on film for her family, like it or not. So many moments in time captured; a special gift for her family for years to come.

Judy was a romantic and in 1997 when she met Matthew (Matt) John Deemer on a blind date, Matt’s charm and quick wit eventually swept her off her feet. They were married on August 26, 2000, on the family farm. They spent 24 years happily married living in their home adjacent to the family farm in Madison County with their beloved (and extremely spoiled) dogs and cats.

Judy is survived by her husband Matthew John Deemer, and her sister, Betty Jean Dixon and her husband, William (T.A.) Glenn Anderson. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, all of whom brought her much pride and joy, including Jean Marie Dixon, William (Will) Henry Dixon, Margaret (Maggie) Adell Anderson, and Emma Lee Anderson. Christian Dixon, Hannah Dixon, Luke Dixon, and Bella Dixon are her beloved great nieces and nephews.
