Bernard Joseph Wood, Jr.                     July 5, 2025


Bernard J. Wood Jr., 88 of Polk County, Florida passed away at home on Saturday, July 5, 2025 after an extended illness.

Born August 2, 1936, in Charlottesville, Va., he was the son of the late Bernard Joseph Sr and Pearl Sullivan Wood. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Wood Forloines and Alma Wood Herring. 

Bernard is survived by his daughters: Carolyn Wood McMillen of Charlottesville; Rebecca Wood Via (and husband Keith Via) of Florida; one sister, Laura Ann Spencer; three grandsons- Matthew Andrews (and Brennan Rowe), Aaron Andrews (and Cheryl Thomas) Hunter McMillen (and wife Sydney); granddaughter Kristian Daniels (and husband Kyle Daniels); Three great grandchildren- Kadence Andrews; Skye Andrews and Maverick Andrews. A very special cousin Wanda Lee Fuller. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family,

A respected veteran of the wholesale food industry, Bernard retired from Quality Foods. A devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, he had a passion for baking, gardening, dancing, and Civil War reenactments. Above all he treasured family time. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Interment: Holly Memorial Gardens, Charlottesville, Virginia.
