Ruth Salyers     February 6, 2021

Ruth Salyers, 99, went to be with Jesus on February 6, 2021. She recently wrote “my mind is on a mansion far away and I know I’ll go to live there some sweet day”. She always said “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”, Philippians 4:13, and that was Mamaw Ruth. She had strength like no other and was the glue to this family. She is now with who she lived for, her Lord and Savior. She lived a life full of grace and love. Everyone called her Mamaw and nobody was a stranger. Not only did she live for her family and serve the Lord, she also worked as a welder during World War II and retired from Fairfax County, Va. She was a hard worker, selfless, and worked until her mid 80’s. She loved gardening, reading, playing games, and doing for others.
She was the daughter of George and Estella Salyers, born on August 9, 1921 in Wise, Va. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Pike Mullins; brothers, Leonard, Lonnie, Willie, and Donald Salyers; sisters, Buella and Millie Adkins.
She is survived by her two grandchildren, Gregory Mullins and Pamela Mullins; brother, Paul Salyers; eight great-grandchildren; twenty-one great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
She was a gift of 99 years of love and faithfulness to her family. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral Service will be held 7:00 pm. Friday, February 12, 2021 at Solid Rock Church in Barboursville and the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 pm, one hour before the service. The interment will be in Stonewall Memorial Gardens in Manassas, VA.
The family wishes to thank  Kristen of Hospice for the care given to Ruth.
Preddy Funeral Home in Madison is in charge of arrangements.
