Bobby was preceded in death by his parents Dolores and Forest Via, his son Robert H. Shafer, two grandsons, Robert and Mark Shafer, brothers, James Shafer, Harold Hyde, Roy Shafer Sr. and Danny Shafer.

Bobby leaves behind his wife of almost 57 years, Frances Shafer, his son Timothy and Laura Shafer of Orange, Va, his sister Blanche Snow, brother Forest {Piney} Via of Pensacola, Fla., one Aunt Linda Moore of Scottsville, Va, sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews and his adopted family Ben and Suzanne Doyle and their family.

The family would like to especially thank Sentra and Hospice of the Piedmont Culpeper for their nurses, doctors and aides' kindness and care. I would like to thank my sister Barbara Hepler for all her help and care.

A visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, Virginia.
