William Steven Lambert passed from this life on March 20, 2026, at 9:50 p.m. at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. He was born May 5, 1947, in Lafayette, Georgia, to G.B. and Dorothy Deane [Newsome] Lambert. On March 26, 1976, he married the love of his life, Sandra Slemp Lambert.
For 50 years, Steve and Sandie were inseparable, forging a life of true dedication and partnership. Their love and commitment offered a beautiful example of the power of marriage. A special blessing came to Steve and Sandie in 1989, when they adopted their son Clifton Lee. After Sandie retired from the Federal Government, she transitioned into real estate and Steve into house building, where their individual talents complemented each other perfectly, just as they did in every area of their lives together. They enjoyed dogs, home life, and the beach. March 26, 2026, would have been their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Steve’s life was fully dedicated to Sandie, his family, and working with his hands. After serving in the Air Force as a radar technician, he spent his career in bridge construction, excavation, and building houses. He was also a talented mechanic and electronics tech—a true “jack of all trades.” He was a hard-working, humble, honest, and good man who could converse on any subject and was generous with his time, help, knowledge, and wisdom.
Steve was predeceased by both his parents. The eldest of four children, he is survived by his siblings, Timothy Lee Lambert, Sarah Elizabeth Hall, and Carol Ann McHale; his sons, John Scott Lambert [Mary Beth] and Clifton Lee Lambert [Tara]; and grandchildren, Mary Kate, Zachariah, Kohen, and Olivia.
There will be a Memorial Service on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 12:00 noon, at the Preddy Funeral Home, 250 W. Main Street, Orange, Virginia 22960.
