Virginia Dare Carpenter Utz, 79 of Oak Park, Va, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Countryside Nursing Home. She was born on November 19, 1943, to the late John Thomas Carpenter, Sr. and Edna Elizabeth Burke Carpenter. She was also preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Barbara Carpenter and Evelina Carpenter; and brother-in-law, Edd Perryman.

She is survived by her husband, Royce B. Utz; great niece and nephew that were like her grandchildren, MaKenzie Dove and Zachary Dove and wife Rachel; brothers, Harvey C. Carpenter and John Thomas "Junior" Carpenter, Jr.; sisters, Thelma C. Perryman and Margaret Ann Hawkins and husband Ronnie; nieces and nephews, Michael Perryman, Dee Hunt, Rhonda Salmon, Debbie Frye, Pamela Sharp, Leslie Hurlock; great nieces and nephews, Aaron Michael Perryman, Jacob and Logan Wilson,  Austin, Trae, and Connor Salmon, Ashley Frye, and Alexis and Madeline Hurlock.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 24, 2023, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with Pastor Gary Utz officiating. Interment will be in the Robinson River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Brightwood. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 1;00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank all of the staff at the Countryside Nursing Home for the excellent care given to Virginia Dare.
