Valerie Washington, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on November 1, 2025, at the age of 61.
Born on March 18, 1964, Valerie was the cherished daughter of the late Eugene Washington Jr. and Mary Washington of Madison, Virginia. She was a radiant presence in the lives of all who knew her, known for her humor, warmth, and unwavering love for her family.
Valerie is survived by her loving children, Nicole Washington of Atlanta, Georgia, and Marqual Gaylor of Louisa, Virginia; her grandson, Keontae Hearns of Charlottesville, Virginia; and her great-grandson, Kairo Hearns, also of Charlottesville. She also leaves behind a devoted family of siblings: Mary Ann Carter, Charles Carter, and Carolyn Carter of Madison, Virginia; Lorraine Washington of Fairfax, Virginia; Michael Washington (Bonnie Washington), Madeline Washington, Eugene Washington III, and Loretta Malson (Michael Malson), all of Orange, Virginia; Jean Thomas (Jerome Thomas) of Warrenton, Virginia; and Shalander Washington of Gainesville, Virginia.
Valerie’s legacy continues through a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with those she loved. Known as the funny light of the family, Valerie brought joy and laughter wherever she went. Her spirit, humor, and love will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and joy. Valerie’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 15, at 11:00 AM, at Preddy Funeral Home - Orange Chapel.
