Thomas F. "Tom" Purcell, 93, passed away on July 14, 2022 after struggling with dementia.  He was preceded in death by his wife Janet Purcell; mother, Lillian Hartley; step-father, James Hartley and father, Bernard Purcell. He is survived by his sons, David Purcell and wife Daisy, Keith Purcell and wife Linda, Bruce Purcell, Neal Purcell; grandchildren Kevin Purcell and wife Heather, Katie Dunivan and husband Daniel, Steven Purcell and wife Hannah, Tommy Purcell, Michael Purcell, Angela Purcell and Jason Purcell; great-grandchildren Ellie Purcell, Kinsley Purcell and Owen Dunivan.

Tom was an Airforce veteran, a member of the Barboursville Masonic Lodge and a member of Gordonsville Baptist Church. He had a long career in telecommunications with C&P Telephone Company and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Family will receive friends at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and preceding the funeral services on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Funeral service will be held at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 11:00 am, officiated by Reverend Wayne Collis. Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alpha House, 811 Thompson Street, Ashland, VA  23005, where Tom resided. The family thanks the staff of Alpha House for the excellent care provided.
