Thomas Raymond Norris

Thomas Raymond Norris, 73 of Orange Va., entered the presence of Jesus on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born on November 10, 1952, to the late Joseph Jerry Norris and Flora Virginia Norris. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Susan Robin Norris as well as his brother Robbie Norris.
He is survived by his children, Karrie Powell, Jackie Lewis and husband Billy, Josh Norris and wife Morgan, Kathleen Lam and husband Zeke; grandchildren, Thomas Powell and wife Riley, Leah Knight and husband Satchel, Jordan Powell and wife Emily, Drew Powell and wife Grace; Emma Rose Lewis, Will Lewis, Ava Lewis, Kate Lewis; Cailey Norris, Mylie Norris, Grant Norris, Luke Lam; Ezekiel Lam, Malachi Lam, Isabella Lam, Nehemiah Lam, Evie Sue Lam, Selah Jo Lam, Ezra Lam, Zechariah Lam, Zion Lam, Boaz Lam; great-grandchildren, Leddie Knight, Landri Knight, Lennox Knight, Brooks Powell, Scottie Powell.
To his family and friends, he was known as Ray. To his co-workers he was “Tommy”. To his grandchildren he was “Papa”. To his children he was “Dad”. To all, he was a hard-working, loyal man who cared deeply about his family. Ray was born in St. Mary’s County, Maryland and spent his childhood days growing up on the Chesapeake Bay. Immediately after high school Ray attended trade school and married the love of his life, Sue. They were happily married for 39 years.
By 1984, his trade led him to beautiful Orange County, Virginia where he would spend the rest of his days mastering his craft as a commercial/industrial HVAC professional, as well as training others in the trade as well.
Ray loved to spend time with his family on any and every occasion. Especially memorable are the North Carolina vacations where he not only loved to fish but laugh and play with the numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren that filled the beach.
He will be greatly missed by his family and those throughout the community who called him coworker and friend.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 15, 2025, at North Pamunkey Baptist Church with Pastor Zeke Lam officiating, interment in Graham Cemetery in Orange. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.
