Shirley Raines Thurman, 83, of Landon Lane, Orange died on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at her daughter's residence. Shirley was born on September 30, 1938 in Greene County and was the daughter of the late Herman Rosevelt Raines and Beatrice Edwards Raines.  Shirley was also predeceased by her husband Thomas Toliver Thurman; a son Gregory Thomas Thurman; and three brothers Vernon Raines, James R. Raines, and Roger Lee Raines.

Shirley is survived by a daughter Cathy Thurman Boergert and husband Tom of Spotsylvania; five grandchildren Logan Thurman, Lauren Boergert, Nicholus Boergert, Mary Ann Smith, and Angela Thurman Weir; a sister Gerlene Raines Aylor of Culpeper; and two sisters-in-law Rose Raines of Unionville, and Karen Raines of Madison.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at the Graham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 before the service at the Preddy Funeral Home in Orange.
