Shirley Richard Dodson

Shirley Richard Dodson, 79 of Brightwood, Va., passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024 at UVA Culpeper Hospital. He was born on August 31, 1944 to the late Robert Dodson and Betty Weakley Dodson. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert "Odell" Dodson.

He was the postmaster in Brightwood for many years. He was an Army veteran and served in Vietnam.

He is survived by his sons, Mark Dodson of Culpeper and Cory Dodson and wife Nicole of Brightwood; grandchildren, Robert "Austin" Haynes and Jacob Haynes; great-grandchild, Bentley Haynes.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Tucker officiating. Interment will be in Etlan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 am, one hour before the service at the funeral home.
