Samuel Joseph Bodkins

Samuel Joseph Bodkins, 60, of Louisa, Virginia, formerly of Gordonsville, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

Born on July 30, 1965, in Rockingham County, Virginia, Sam was the son of the late Roy Daniel Bodkins and Norine Marie St. Pierre Bodkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Daniel Bodkins Jr.

Sam was employed by Communications Corporation of America (CCA) in Boston, Virginia, and was a retired electrician from UVA Hospital. He was a proud member of the Harley Owners Group – Orange Chapter and found great joy in riding with fellow members and spending time with those he loved.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Rita Hamilton Bodkins of Louisa; his daughter, Shannon Bodkins Deavers, and her husband, Zachary Blake Deavers; and his nephew, Taylor Bodkin Smith.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 10, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville.

A memorial graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 12:00 noon at Maplewood Cemetery in Gordonsville.
