Royce Boswell Utz

Royce Boswell Utz, 87, of Madison, Va., passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Dogwood Village in Orange, Va. He was born on June 16, 1939, to the late Granville Hollister Utz and Clara Ella Knight Utz. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Dare Carpenter Utz; brothers, Granville Hollister Utz, II, and James Toliver Utz; sisters, Betty Jones Duffer, Cherie Dowden, and Charlotte Brooking.

He was a graduate of Madison County High School and worked at Comdial.

He is survived by his sister, Emily Utz Amos; brother, Coleman Utz; wife, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff of Dogwood Village for their love and care.

A funeral service will be held at Preddy Funeral Home, Madison, on Saturday, August 22, at 11:00 AM, with Elder Gary Utz officiating. A private graveside service will follow.
