Robert "Bobby" Edward Utz

Robert “Bobby” Edward Utz, 89 of Brightwood, Va., passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at UVA Hospital. He was born on April 21, 1937, to the late Jesse Thomas Utz and Alice Christine Lohr Utz. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Carpenter Utz; brothers, Thomas Richard “Dickie” Utz, Gerald Gordon Utz; sisters, Peggy June Utz Carpenter, Anna Joyce Utz Gates, Mary Elizabeth Utz Nichol, and Debra Sue Utz McLain.

He is survived by his sons, Jerry Alan Utz and David Edward Utz and Karen Brodie; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Utz and Thomas Taylor, Brian Casey Utz and wife Stacey, Jesse Alan Utz; great-grandchildren, Mykayla Holynn Ratcliffe, Ryan Anthony Ratcliffe, Jeremiah Landon Ratcliffe, and Jackson Miles Ratcliffe; brothers-in-law, Grover Nelson Carpenter and wife Patricia and Robert Lester Carpenter; sisters-in-law, Judy Utz and Edna Utz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Bethsaida United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Johnny Hawkins officiating.
