Ray Epp Dodson, 79 years old, passed peacefully on May 24, 2026, at Emporia nursing home. He was born on November 28, 1946, at Charlottesville Hospital. He grew up in Madison, VA.
Ray served in the Army as a lineman. He had many talents and loved playing horseshoes, fishing, bowling, cornhole, volleyball, and just loved being with his family.
Ray was preceded in death by his father, Roy Dodson; mother, Pearl Dodson; brothers, William Dodson, Richard Dodson, and Roosevelt Dodson; sisters, Bertha Jenkins, Becky Dodson, and Renee Dodson; fiancée, Louise Bright; grandson, Justin Butler; son-in-law, Roy Corbin; and his beloved dog, Bootsie.
Ray is survived by his children, Ray E. Dodson, William Dodson, April Flory, and Linda Corbin; daughter-in-law, Gwen Dodson; and 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Ray will be remembered for his kind heart and love for his family. His many talents and wisdom were gifts to everyone who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life that will take place at Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 East Chandler Street, Culpeper, VA 22701, on September 24 at 12:00 PM, where he will be laid to rest. We will be having a get-together after the service at Peppers Grill in Culpeper, VA, at 2:00 PM. Everyone is welcome to attend.
