Peggy Yancey Garrett

Peggy Yancey Garrett passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 28, 2026, at the age of 92. She died exactly one month and two days after her beloved husband passed, Robert Garrett. After 73 years of marriage, their love story continues.

Peggy was born on May 9, 1934, to the late William Daniel Yancey and Ruth Genevieve Foster, in Orange County, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Brenda Garrett Stankewicz and Ronald Garrett; siblings, Paul Yancey, Stuart Yancey, Samuel Yancey, James Yancey, Henry Yancey, Frances Eisenhower, Hazel Moon, Mary Pearson, Eva Lee and Shirley Hanvey.

She is survived by her children, Robert Garrett (Bonnie), Randall Garrett (Robin), and Gary Crumpler (Vickie). Peggy and Bob also raised one of their grandsons as their son, John Stankewicz. She is also survived by 3 other special grandchildren, Kristin Wentland (Matthew), Lauren Murchison (Tyler) and Ryan Garrett, and 5 great-grandchildren, Hunter Thacker, Chelsea Thacker, Olivia Wentland, Rowan Murchison and Owen Wentland.

Peggy was a loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, and was a friend to all. She never met a stranger wand would go out of her way to help anyone in need. Her home was always open to anyone and loved when family would come visit. She was a devoted member of Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she sang in the choir in her younger years. Through she and Bob’s faithful service, they both became an integral part of church’s ministry and service to the community. Her faith in God enriched her life with a heart full of love for everyone, but especially her entire family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday 2, 2026, at 2:00PM at Preddy’s Funeral Home in Orange with interment following at Graham Cemetery in Orange. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Preddy’s.
