Michael McDaniel

Michael Lee McDaniel passed away on May 7, 2026. He passed away leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a lifetime of memories that will be treasured. His laughter, stories, and presence filled every room he entered. These memories will live on through his family and all who knew him.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Michael Gibson and grandmothers, Mildred McDaniel and Elizabeth Gibson; and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his loving mother and father Louise and Sam Gibson; his brother, Scotty Gibson, and his two sisters, Kathy Chamberlin and Delores Lowry.

He shared his life with his wife, Michele Hodges, and was a devoted father to Justin McDaniel (Debbie Harlow), Kristen McDaniel, Jon McDaniel (Blakely McDaniel), Joey McDaniel, Rachael Bryant (Tyler Bryant), Jessica McNeil (Roy McNeil), Melvin Offield, and Jason Offield. Michael was also a proud grandfather to fourteen grandchildren, who were the light of his life and brought him endless pride and happiness. He is also survived by many other beloved family members.

Michael’s greatest joy was simply being with his family. Whether it was sitting around telling funny stories, staying up late making memories with the grandchildren, or spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, he made ordinary moments feel special. His family will forever remember the sound of his voice, the stories he could tell for hours, and the way he made even the hardest day a little lighter.

To know Michael was to know love, laughter, and loyalty. He leaves behind a space that can never truly be filled, but also a lifetime of memories that his family will hold close forever. Though he may no longer walk beside them, his love will guide them every day.

He will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and forever remembered.

a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Kents Store, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville. A reception will follow the graveside service at ARC Hall in Kents Store.
