Matthew D. Ferko Jr., age 31, of Charlottesville, VA passed away on April 14, 2025.

Born on February 10, 1994, Matthew was known for his caring and fun-loving personality. He was a supportive friend with a contagious smile, and always ready with a joke to make others laugh.

Matthew is survived by his mother Kim (Tony) Gentry; stepmother Hayley Ferko; grandmothers, Joan Ferko and Lavenia Waller; sister, Rena (Brandan) Stitt; brother, Robert Ferko; step siblings Amber and Cory Gentry; four nieces and two nephews; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Matthew Ferko Sr.; grandfathers Donald Ferko Sr. and Paul Wingfield; grandmother Edna Gentry; uncle Ricky Wingfield; and cousin Michael Bolen.

An avid sports fan and participant, Matthew dedicated much of his free time to playing and following various sports. He also focused significantly on his sobriety, a journey that inspired many around him. His commitment to making others laugh and his dedication to his personal growth were hallmarks of his character.

Visitation will be held on April 24, 2025 from 1-2 PM with services beginning at 2 PM at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, VA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Narcotics Anonymous, honoring Matthew's dedication to his sobriety and support for others on similar paths.
