Mary Elizabeth Waldon

Mary Elizabeth Waldon, 54, of Barboursville, Virginia, died Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond.

Born August 31, 1969 in Charlottesville, she was the daughter of the late Douglas F. Waldon and Mary E. Collier Waldon. She was also preceded in death by her lifelong partner, James "Buster" Shifflett.

Mary was a very loving mother. She cared greatly for everyone and had a forgiving heart. Mary was more than willing to help anyone who was in need, and she loved her animals. She was one-in-a-million. Mary was always there to lend an ear whenever you needed to talk, and she loved her boys to no end.

Mom, go fly high until we meet again. Rest easy mom, we love you, and you will be greatly missed. You were gone too soon, but you will never be forgotten.

Mary is survived by two sons, D. J. Shifflett and Duke Shifflett; her sister, Susan Morton and husband Charlie; a brother, Doug Waldon and wife Audrey; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the Waldon Family Cemetery on Toms Road. Pastor Shawn Edwards will officiate.
