Margaret Sudsberry Johnson passed away on December 2, 2025. She was born in Banks, Arkansas on October 22, 1939, at her grandmother’s farmhouse. Her parents, Mary Lou and Royce Sudsberry, moved to Memphis when she was 2 years old. She graduated from Whitehaven High School.
Margaret first worked for Union Planters Bank . She started her hospital career in 1970 at Methodist Central Hospital as a business manager for the Emergency Room. Later she was awarded the job of Payroll and Compensation Manager for Methodist Hospital. She and coworkers installed the Hospital’s integrated operation system. In 1998 she left Methodist to work for SAP-America.
Margaret was married to Carroll Johnson, Jr. They were members of the Memphis Country Club. Upon Carroll’s retirement, they moved to Green Level Farm in Orange County, Virginia where they renovated a family farmhouse built in 1763. Margaret spent 12 years enjoying the farm and her many friends in Orange and Culpeper. They were members of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Orange, VA.
After Carroll died, she moved back to Memphis in 2024. Margaret was always known for her friendly and generous nature to everyone she met. She especially showed that loving kindness to her family. She is survived by her three sons, Stan Gibson (Rosie), Steve Gibson (Mary Anne) and Tim Gibson (Christi) all of Memphis; her stepchildren, Elizabeth Bogard (Hal) of Louisville, KY, Nancy Foster (Eddie) of Memphis, Carroll Johnson, lll (Glori) of Memphis, and Corinne Frick (Paul) of Harleysville, PA. She also leaves her sister Barbara Moore and niece Kimberly Alexander (Justin) of Memphis as well as 15 grandhildren: Colin Gibson, Julian Gibson, Marshall Gibson (Lindsey), Madison Gibson, Morgan Day (Shane) , Carter Gibson (Joneesha), Brett Gibson, Ellie MacLeod (John), Nan Markushewski ( Luke), Kate Lindsey( Sean) ,Lucy Stevens (Will), Ruth Frick, Rachel Frick, Thomas Frick( Katie), and Anna Frick(Remy) and 12 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Graham Cemetery in Orange, 14191 Constitution Highway.
