Madeline Elizabeth Johnson

Madeline Elizabeth Johnson, age 92, of Charlottesville, VA, ended her earthly journey on May 27, 2024, at the University of Virginia Hospital.

She was born on June 14, 1931, to the late Ethel Tyler. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel B. Johnson, Sr.; a son, Charles Johnson; two daughters, Florence Jackson and Charlotte Jackson; and a sister, Helen Cooper.

Madeline is survived by her loving children, sons Samuel Johnson (Cindy) of Gordonsville, VA, William Johnson of Richmond, VA, and Micheal Johnson of Orange, VA; and daughter Sharon Ferguson (George) of Palmyra, VA; daughter-in-law, Delphine Johnson; sister, Grace Johnson of Culpeper, VA; brother, Ned Cooper of Tanners, VA; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); a host of nieces and nephews; one special nephew, Lewis "Chubby" Johnson; and special friends, Deborah Jackson, and Lucretia Trice.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, VA, with visitation at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Pastor Robert Trice will be officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 E Chandler St, Culpeper, VA.
