Larry Michael Cooper

Larry Michael Cooper, 77, of Stanardsville, Virginia, passed away on July 13, 2026. Born on May 4, 1949, in Spotsylvania, Virginia, Larry lived a life full of warmth, laughter, and deep devotion to the people he loved.

After graduating, Larry served his country, enlisting in the United States Army in 1968. He served honorably until 1971 and continued his commitment through the Army Reserves until 1974. His sense of duty and dedication carried into every part of his life.

Following his military service, Larry built a long and fulfilling career at Klockner Pentaplast, where he worked for 28 years before retiring in 2006. In 2007, he started a new career at Brown Collision Center and remained through the transition to Flow Automotive. Larry genuinely loved going to work every day. He looked forward to seeing his coworkers and customers, and they looked forward to seeing him.

Larry brought joy wherever he went. He always had a smile on his face and a good joke ready to share, earning him the affection of everyone who knew him. Whether people called him Poppi, Coop, Uncle, or Brother, they all knew they were in the company of someone special. In his quieter moments, Larry loved to read, collect coins, and settle in to watch old western movies. But his greatest passion, the one that defined him above all else, was being a Dad, a Grandfather, an uncle, and a brother. Family was everything to Larry, and he made sure they knew it.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, William Cooper Jr. and Lorraine Cooper, and his brother, John Cooper. He is survived by his son, Jason Cooper and his wife, Michelle; his daughter, Pam Blake and her husband, Jim; his sister, Linda Hoffman and her husband Warren; grandchildren, Joey Blake, Evan Blake, Avery Cooper, Ila Mae Cooper and Ford Cooper; partner Tina Mitchell; along with numerous special nieces and nephews, cousins and friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing him.

Larry's faith was a steady presence in his life, and his family finds comfort in knowing he is at peace in the arms of the Lord, reunited with those who went before him.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 8th, at 10:00 a.m. at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison, Virginia. All who knew and loved Larry are welcome to gather and celebrate a life well lived.
