Kerry Ryder Abbott, 71, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025 at her home in Troy, VA

She was born October 9, 1953 to the late Earl & Helen Ryder, Sr. of Gordonsville, VA.

She is survived by her husband, James "Mike" Abbott of Scottsville; a sister, Peggy Ryder Lawson (Bill) of Ruckersville; a brother, Earl "E.H." Ryder, Jr. (Cindy) of Gordonsville; a step-son, Michael "Tony" Abbott (Carol Anne) of Lake Monticello; Four grandsons: Cody, Camden, Cegan & Chandler; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Kerry loved life, her family and her friends. She loved being outside whether it was working in her yard, walking Monticello Trail, or sitting on her deck drinking hot tea and watching the birds. Kerry courageously fought cancer the same way she lived life, with a smile on her face.

The family would like to thank all who helped take care of her in her final days. A special thank you to Donna Martin of Visiting Angels for the care and compassion shown to Kerry and our family in her final few weeks.

A Memorial service will be held at Gordonsville Chapel at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 26, 2025, located at 314 N Main St, Gordonsville, Virginia, 22942. Pastor Terry Jewel will officiate.
