Kathleen Cecelia Johnston, 79 of Brightwood, Va. passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2026. She was born on September 26 1946 to the late Thomas George Smith and Jeanne Josephine Seghers Smith. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Madeleine Walsh.
Kathleen worked in retail sales most of her life. She was very devoted to her church and loved being with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Lee Johnston; son; Bryan Howe and wife Jackie; daughter, Kimberley Johnston Webber and husband Keith; brother, Thomas Charles Smith and partner, Claudia; grandchildren, Mathew Clemons, Derek Howe, Kelly Webber, and Katy Petty.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 3, 2026 at Solid Rock Full Gospel Church with Pastor Larry Morris officiating. Interment will be in Bethsaida United Methodist Church Cemetery in Brightwood. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Solid Rock Full Gospel Church, 3580 Spotswood Trail, Barboursville, Va. 22923.
