John E. “Gran Gran” McWilliams, 89, of Gordonsville, Virginia, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at his home.
Born on April 4, 1937, he was the son of the late Robert Henry McWilliams and Ollie Mae McWilliams. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert H. McWilliams Jr. and Charles D. McWilliams.
John is survived by his wife, Sandra Davis McWilliams; his stepdaughter, Sabrina Breeden Henshaw and husband Frankie of Ruckersville, Virginia; his stepsons, Donald Ray Breeden and wife Jan of Gordonsville, Virginia, and David Bradley Morris Jr. and companion Katie of Gordonsville, Virginia; and his sister, Doris McWilliams Tutwiler and husband Tut of Harrisonburg, Virginia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler Ray Breeden and wife Joanna of Richmond, Virginia, Austin Shane Henshaw and wife Heather of Stanardsville, Virginia, Hunter Franklin Henshaw of Ruckersville, Virginia, Alexis Morris of Troy, Virginia, Brooklynn Morris of Charlottesville, Virginia, Harper Price of Louisa, Virginia, Jeffrey Sisk of St. Pete, Florida, Trevor Carter of Louisa, Virginia, and Cassidy Carter of Gordonsville, Virginia; and his five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Maplewood Cemetery in Gordonsville, Virginia. A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911 or St. Jude Children's Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
