John William Barnes

John William Barnes, 72 of Madison, Va., passed away on January 14, 2025 at his home. He was born on May 17, 1952 to the late Charles William Barnes and Rosie Bruce Barnes. He was also preceded death by a nephew, Kerwin L. Rucker and a great-nephew, Kenneth L. Green, Jr.

He worked for the Madison County School System for many years and also worked for many individuals in Madison and surrounding areas.

He is survived by his sister, Mattie Rucker; daughter, Carla Barringer and husband Lee; nieces, Terri R. Green and Cynthia Russ; two great-nieces; 2 great-nephews; grandchildren, David Barringer, Grace Barringer, Georganna Barringer, Kaylee Barringer; great-grandchild, Delilah Scott.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison, Va. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 138 Bohannon Road, Syria, Va. 22743. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
