Jesse Lee Breeden Jr., 86, of Ruckersville, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
Born on October 7, 1939, Jesse was the son of the late Jesse Lee Breeden Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Breeden Gill. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cheryl Jean Breeden, and his sister, Janette Carneal.
Jesse will be remembered as a man of deep faith, a loving heart, and a steady, dependable presence in the lives of those who knew him. He was a loving father and a devoted grandfather, always lighting up when his grandsons entered the room. Before he became wheelchair bound, he could often be found working on cars for his friends and family or fishing with them—simple moments that meant the most to him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, never hesitating to be there when someone needed him, and often staying long after the work was done just to talk, laugh, and enjoy the time together. Even after he was no longer able to work with his hands as he had done in his younger years, he still found joy in guiding his grandchildren—walking them step by step through repairs or offering wisdom drawn from a lifetime of experience. In this way, he continued to give of himself, sharing not only his knowledge, but his time, patience, and love.
He also found strength in his faith, but above all, Jesse cherished his family. His greatest happiness came from being surrounded by them, especially his daughter, and his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Christina Faye Hamill (David) of Ruckersville, Virginia; his sister, Ella Mae Atwater; his grandchildren, Justin Melton (Angelique), Jordan Melton, Camden Melton, Matthew Hamill (Priscilla), Justin Hamill, and Anthony Hamill; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Jonah Hamill and Luke Hamill. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.
Jesse’s life was a quiet testament to love, faith, and generosity. The lessons he shared, the stories he told, and the care he showed will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville.
