Janice Elaine Douglas, 77, of Madison, Virginia, passed away on March 18, 2026.
Born on April 12, 1948, she was the daughter of the late James Donald and Doris Elaine Simpson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Danny Chan Douglas.
Janice grew up in Tacoma, WA and was a Girl Scout who had achieved her First Class, the highest award in the organization at the time. She then spent the next seventeen years traveling the world with her husband and having her children in different countries. She loved doing crafts, reading, and exploring the various places she lived. She later settled in Virginia with her family, and worked at the Madison County Library, where she shared her crafts and stories.
Janice is survived by a daughter, Shana Irene Poisel; her sons, Kelly James and Colin William Douglas (with wife, Mary); six grandsons, Liam (with wife, Sam) and Bailey Grant, Joshua and Marcus Poisel, and Eric and Colin (Hiccup) Douglas; her brothers James and Jerry Simpson and their families, and Rand Baker (with partner, Dino).
Her Celebration of Life is scheduled to be held at the United Methodist Church in Madison, VA on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 5:00 PM, with a meal in the annex afterwards.
