James Virgil Washington, 74, of Orange, Virginia, was called home by the Lord on February 20, 2026. James was born in Orange, VA, on March 5, 1951, to the late Suetta Washington and Virgil Johnson.
James attended school in Washington, D.C. He worked various jobs, with his last being at Cintas in Culpeper, VA.
James was quiet in nature, but his presence was always felt. He didn't need to be the loudest person in the room to make an impact with the subtle wit in a perfectly timed joke. He had a way of making people laugh when they least expected, his sense of humor was gentle, clever, unforgettable. Let's not forget that James was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan.
He was the life of the party and a true lover of a good time. He had a natural rhythm in a deep love for dancing. If there was music playing, especially his song, you could be sure James was on the floor.
James in preceded in death by a brother, Robert Washington. He is survived by his son, Tyrone Washington (Tessie); step-granddaughters, Shawnia and Shawntay Pendelton; aunt Evanglist Shirley Strother; uncle George Johnson; brother Virgil Johnson Jr.; sister Jill Jones; a long-time companion, Sarah (Bertha) Snead and her son, Bernard Tibbs, and a host of cousins and friends.
