James Lee Haynes

James Lee Haynes, 68 of Banco, Va. passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at UVA Hospital. He was born on September 11, 1957 to the late Claude Jesse Haynes and Eunice Cave Haynes Weaver. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter C. Haynes.
James worked for many years and retired from VDOT. He loved bluegrass music, going to church, spending time with his cows, and being with his family. He was always a joy to be around.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Gaines Haynes; daughters, Susan Burke and fiance’ Alex Olinger and Jessi Williams and wife Alex; brothers, Paul D. Haynes and wife Sheila and Larry M. Haynes and wife Beth; sister, Linda D. Ryder and husband David; grandchildren, Garrett A. Burke, Nataleigh G. Burke, and Eli J. Williams.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with interment in Etlan Cemetery. Pastor Richard Wright will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 20, 2026 at the funeral home.
