Helen Martha Epperson, 96 of Gordonsville formerly of Bumpass, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026 at her daughter’s home. She was born April 18, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland and was the daughter of the late Lloyd Livingston Shimp and Eunice Davis Shimp. She is preceded in death by daughters, Delva Blewitt, Lee Johnson and Roberta Griffin; one son Stuart Shimp; brother Roland Shimp; and a sister, Lucy Iva McIntosh.
Mrs. Epperson is survived by her daughters, Pamela Shifflett and husband Frank of Gordonsville, Robin Lang of Gordonsville, Mickie Spencer of West Point, son Greg Shimp of Illinois, ten grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Mechanicsville Baptist Church Cemetery, 10200 Louisa Road, Gordonsville, VA 22942. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Friday evening at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, Virginia.
