Aroda

Helen J Cave, 89, went to her heavenly home at Mtn View Nursing Home in Aroda on June 18, 2026.

She was born to Walter and Gertie Jenkins in Rappahannock County. Helen was a devoted wife of almost 70 years, loving mother, and grandmother. Helen attended Belle Meade School in Rappahannock County. The school still stands today and is a summer camp for children. Helen accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Criglersville and was baptized in the river on Old Hollow Rd in Sperryville, VA. She was a member of Gid Brown Hollow Church of Sperryville for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell R. Cave; parents, Walter and Gertie Jenkins; one son, Roger L Cave; and her siblings: brothers Bernard Jenkins, Earl Jenkins, and Junior Jenkins; three sisters, Virginia Dodson, Julia Leake, and Marie Jenkins.

She is survived by her daughter of Etlan, Va. who was by her side when she entered into her eternal life, two sons Douglas Cave of Culpeper, Bruce Cave (Donna) of Boston, two sisters-in- laws Thelma Jenkins of Sperryville and Ethel Jenkins of Brightwood, brother-in-law Kenny Buracker and Joann of Sperryville, two special nieces Angie Weaver and Connie Weakley, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and a whole host of extended family and friends. Helen worked at Aileen sewing factory for many years. Once they closed their doors, she went to work at Southern Sewing for many more years in the sewing industry. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, in which she put love in every stitch in her beautiful quilts, and she loved flower gardening. She and her husband loved to go to auctions as well. You would see them just about every Saturday at one of the local auctions. Helen enjoyed and loved everyone she came in contact with; she never met a stranger, always helping those who needed her in any capacity she could. She always loved the little children, so many remember her even today for how she helped and cared for them. Helen will be missed by her daughter and the entire staff at Mountain View Nursing Home. She thought of them as family, and they thought of her as mom or grandma.

Funeral services will be held at Preddy Funeral Home on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 2:00 pm, with a visitation one hour before the funeral service. Her daughter, Linda, would like to express her gratitude to the Mountain View nursing home staff for the love, outstanding care, and devotion they have shown to my mother in the last 6 years. You all never wavered from giving her the best of care with love, dignity, and compassion; laughing with her, praying with her, loving her like she was your mother or grandmother. For that, I will always be eternally grateful to each and every one of you. May God comfort your hearts as well and give you peace knowing you gave her everything she ever needed during her stay at Mountain View.
