Geraldine Elizabeth Braxton

Geraldine Elizabeth Braxton, 93, departed this life on September 11, 2026, at UVA Hospital, Culpeper, VA. Geraldine was born on October 10, 1932, in Madison County, VA, to the Late Peal Lindsay and Benson Davis, Sr.

Geraldine was educated at the Orange County School System. At a young age, she joined and was baptized at Rock Hall Baptist Church in Madison County.

Affectionately known as Gerri or Aunt Gerri, lived a long and blessed life. She was kind, caring, independent, and such a giving person. Geraldine was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She was a source of inspiration to all who knew and met her. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives she touched.

Gerri loved listening to her scanner to get the “happenings” in the community. She was a devoted Red Skins (Commander) fan. Her hobby was cooking. She loved feeding the village; family, friends, neighbors, and whoever was in need. She was known for her cakes, pies, savory dishes, and her delectable treats.

Being blessed to see ninety-three years of God’s grace and mercy, Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Benson Davis; her beloved husband, Macon Braxton; children, Pamela, Larry, and Jeffery; brothers, Benson Jr., Charles, and James; and sisters, Julia and Shirley.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Macon (Betty) and Walter Lee; daughter, Janice; eleven grandchildren, Tanya, Sherri, Amber, Macon, Leslie, Embrey, Shadara, Alexis, Brad, Shaquille, and Jacolby; nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A service will be held Friday, September 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Preddy Funeral Home – Orange Chapel. A visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, with interment following at Westview Cemetery.
