George William Houchens of Louisa County peacefully transitioned from this life on March 20, 2026, at his home surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on March 3, 1955 to the late John Houchens and Alberta Houchens. George was a dedicated worker at C.W. Houchens for many, many years. He loved his job. He also loved his family. He had a heart of gold. He made friends everywhere he went and was loved by everyone, always finding ways to bring laughter to those around him.
George was preceded in death by his parents, John and Alberta Houchens; his daughter, Tameca Mines; his sister, Thelma L. Houchens; and his brothers, Timothy and Aaron Houchens.
He leaves to cherish his memory his son David (Paulette) Henson; daughter, Latesha Johnson; step children Tracey, Lachelle, and Adrian; his brothers, Lawrence (Lisa) Hunter, John O’Dell (Vandelia), Venfert and Reggie Houchens; and his sisters, Patricia, Gladys (Clifton), Connie (Michael), and Cynthia. He is also survived by his grandkids, Daniel, Jayleen, Doriah, De’Asia, and Tyreese; three aunts, two uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Rising Sun Baptist Church in Mineral. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Mineral.
