Gary Lynn Cooke, from Zions Crossroads, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023. He was 68 years old. He was born in Charlottesville, Va. On February 1, 1955. He graduated from Lane High School and attended Piedmont Virginia Community College. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Frances Cooke, his paternal grandparents, Jacob and Lillie Cooke, his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Mary Crist, and his brother-in-law Craig Dickerson.

He was a Mechanic at Jim Price Chevrolet for many years and worked at Wayside Market during his retirement.

He was an avid Drag Racer and had several cars that he raced. The last one being His pride and joy, Heavy Metal.  He loved the EastSide Speedway in Waynesboro, Va. His race family meant so much to him, he loved you all so much!

He was a beloved Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He is survived by his sister, Kathy Cooke Dickerson, his Nephew Evan Dickerson, many cousins, and Special Friends.

A celebration of life will be held on, Friday, July 7, 2023, at 2:00pm. at Preddy Funeral Home. The chapel is located at 301 South Main St., Gordonsville, Va. 22942.  Kathy and Evan would like to thank everyone for their love and support.
