Evelyn Carol Morrison

September 20, 1938 — January 3, 2026

Charlottesville

Evelyn Carol Morrison (nee Kellogg), 87, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Prior to moving to Madison County and Charlottesville, she was a long-time resident of Woodbridge. Born on September 20, 1938, Carol was the daughter of the late Edwin and Evelyn Kellogg, Sr., of Glen Burnie, Maryland.

In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her beloved husband, CW4-Army (retired) John W. Morrison; and three siblings, Edwin Kellogg, Jr. (Joanna), Jacqueline Kellogg, and Judith Wright (Fred). She is survived by her three children, Robert (Sandra) Morrison, Linda (Daniel) Crites, and Stephanie Morrison; six grandchildren, Rachael Gould, Andrea (Bobby) Green, Hannah (Derek) Shifflett, Jacob Morrison, and William and Ava Crites; six great grandchildren, Leah, Alanah, Laylah and Makennah Gould, and Delaney and Hadley Shifflett; her siblings, Kenneth Kellogg, Phyllis Hamill, Patricia Eisenzopf, Walt (Sidona) Kellogg, and Donald Kellogg; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol had a fiery spirit, the courage of a lion, and was fiercely independent from a young age. Outgoing and extroverted, she never met a stranger because to her, everyone had the potential of becoming a friend and many did, in fact, become lifelong friends of hers and John. Her sense of humor and playful nature drew people in. She was creative and worked hard at everything she set out to do. A proud U.S. Army wife of 30 years, Carol took care of the home and her children during John’s two tours to Vietnam. Though her top priorities were being a supportive military wife and homemaker, she volunteered as a dental assistant for the American Red Cross at the Quantico Marine Corps Base Dental Clinic for many years. It was a position she was proud of and loved dearly. She worked her way up to provide training to incoming volunteer assistants and was well regarded and respected by the dental team and volunteer coordinators.

Her hobbies included reading informational and how-to books and magazines, baking, sewing, travel, and exercising, to name a few. Other than when she was reading or sewing, Carol rarely sat still. She was always doing something. She loved to bake and was almost always baking something for someone. She is probably the only person to bring homemade peanut brittle (of all things!) to give the staff at her dental appointments. She prioritized her health and was an avid walker at the Potomac Mills Mall in Woodbridge. She would proudly tell everyone she accumulated enough steps to equal having “walked across the United States and back many times over”. Then there was Carol’s deep love and appreciation for music, especially bluegrass and good ol’ country and western, and she shared this interest with John. Music always filled their home. The two enjoyed going to bluegrass festivals throughout the area all year long. Additionally, she loved traveling and took many trips with John and her sisters. Carol thrived on helping others. If anyone was in need of assistance, advice, a ride or especially a homemade cake, she was there for them.

She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and will be deeply missed by them, her extended family, and friends.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Preddy Funeral Home located at 59 Edgewood School Lane in Madison, Virginia.
