Evelyn Marie Breeden

March 24, 1942 — May 28, 2026

Gordonsville

With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce that Evelyn Marie Breeden, 84, of Gordonsville, Virginia, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on May 28, 2026.
Evelyn was born to John Lemuel Shifflett and Edna Alice Nichols of Rockingham, Virginia, and was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Thurman Breeden. We take comfort in knowing that she has been joyfully reunited with those who went before her and is now resting in the eternal peace of God's loving embrace.
She leaves behind a family who loved her dearly: her daughter, Cindy Snow-Proffitt; her grandson, Jacob Ryan Proffitt and his wife, Morgan; and her treasured great-grandson, Silas Timothy Proffitt, all of Ruckersville, Virginia. Her love for her family was unwavering, and the memories she created with them will be cherished for generations to come.
Evelyn found great joy in the friendships she shared with her neighbors at Meadow Run Apartments in Gordonsville, especially her dear friend, Loretta Wells. She never met a stranger and was blessed with many caring friends throughout her life.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to two extraordinary caregivers, Theo Arnette and Sharnet Blakey. Their kindness, compassion, and loving care brought comfort and dignity to Evelyn for many years. They became more than caregivers; they became cherished friends and a true blessing to both Evelyn and her family. Their devotion will never be forgotten.
Though our hearts mourn her absence, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ and find peace in knowing that Evelyn is whole again, walking with her Savior and surrounded by heavenly love.
A graveside service celebrating Evelyn's life and faith will be held on June 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Graham Cemetery in Orange, Virginia, with Deacon Willie Proffitt officiating.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
