Ernestine Sandra Mallory Wilson

Oct 31, 1951 — Sep 8, 2026

Ernestine Sandra Mallory Wilson was born in Madison, VA on October 31, 1951, to the late Willima Hunter “Pete” Mallory and Ruby Virginia Baylor Mallory. She married the love of her life, Wilfred F. Wilson III, on April 6, 1974. Ernestine departed this life peacefully on September 8, 2026, at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, VA with her husband and son lovingly holding her hands, as she took her last breath.

When she became a mother, in 1976 to Brian Michael Wilson, it was the role she was most proud of. This inspirational quote about maternal pride best describes her feelings on motherhood; “As a mama, I am only ever going to be in one of three places. In front of my kid cheering him on, behind him to have his back, or beside him, so he never has to walk alone.” – Anonymous. She also applied this role lovingly to her grandchildren, whom she is so very proud of!

A loving smile, a kind word, and a listening ear was her “MO” - mode of operating or working. Her family, friends, patients, and anyone who had the pleasure of her presence benefited from her nurturing care. She was always willing to provide advice, recommendations and information as needed. As she faced her own health decline, she never complained, or lost her zeal for life. She enjoyed family get-togethers and would often be the focus of amusement, teasing, or laughter.

Ernestine graduated from Madison County High School and later attended Germanna Community College and the University of Virginia, where she attained her nursing degrees. She worked as a nurse for over 40 years.

She is preceded in death by her brothers Donald Ray Mallory, and Harvey Andrew Mallory.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband Wilfred F. Wilson III; her son, Brian M. Wilson (LaTishia); her brothers, Joe H. Mallory (Penny), Carl Scott Mallory, Dennis R. Mallory (Irene), Timothy O. Mallory, and Tony D. Mallory (Lynda); her granddaughters, Brianna and LeTia Wilson; her grandsons, Brice Wilson (Emma), Jordan Hart (Courtney); her brother-in-laws, Ralph Wilson (Alice), Eric Wilson (Belinda), Mark Wilson (Wanda); her sister-in-law Theresa Wilson Thompson; her dear friends, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The memorial service will be held on Friday September 18, 2026 at 11:00AM at Antioch Baptist Church, 1165 Mud Road Madison. VA 22727.
