Clara Yoder

Clara Yoder, 86, of Aroda, VA, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 14, 2026.

She was born February 5, 1940, in Princess Ann, VA. Clara was the daughter of the late Elmer V.

Yoder and Anna Miller. She was also predeceased by her brother, James Miller; sister, Anna Yoder and husband Gary Yoder; sister-in-law, Betty Miller; and brother-in-law, Mart Overholt.

Clara is survived by her husband, Alvin G Yoder of 63 years; daughters, Evangeline Anderson (John) of Amherst, Romilia Faye Helmuth (Tim) of Aroda, Anita Kay Martin (Randy) of Long Island, VA; son, Alvin Glenn Yoder (Leona) of Madison; sister, Mary Overholt of Aroda; brothers, Elmer V. Miller, Jr (Lena) of Orange, Valentine Miller of Orange; grandchildren, Ed Anderson (Rhonda), Elya Miller (Kyle), Jana Penalva (Justin), Greggory Helmuth, Brenton Helmuth, Julie Helmuth, Bentley Martin (April), Bella Martin, Lincoln Martin, Tali Martin, Cooper Martin, Charli Martin, Katrina Yoder, Jaqueline Yoder, Marcie Yoder; and great-grandchildren, Castle Miller and Ezra Anderson.

Clara loved people and telling them about Jesus! She was active in leading the women's Bible studies in the Charlottesville Regional Jail for 34 years. She loved spending winters in Sarasota, Florida, time with her family, photography, yard sales, and attending Southern Gospel Concerts with her husband, Alvin.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2026, 10:00 AM at Gospel Light Mennonite Church in Gordonsville, 629 S Main St. Pastor Eldon Hochstetler will be officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday, August 17, 2026, from 6-8 PM at the church.
