Bruce Jennings Nichols

Bruce Jennings Nichols, age 67, of Gordonsville, VA, passed away on June 26, 2024, at UVA Hospital.

He was born on October 2, 1956, in Front Royal, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Taylor Weakley, brother, James Nichols, and nephew, Jim Nichols.

Bruce is survived by his best friend and soulmate, Diane Taylor; daughter, Elizabeth Smith, Stepdaughter, Nicole Berry; brother, Mike Nichols (Carol); sisters-in-law, Robin Nichols and Lois Heflin (Roy); uncle, Delmas (Debbie) Taylor and aunt, Diane Jarrell; his grandchildren, Walker Shifflett, Natalee Shifflett, and his pride and joy, Genesis Sims.

Bruce enjoyed camping, horseshoes, fishing, playing cards with family and friends, Bluegrass Festivals and Nascar. He was a UVA sports enthusiast and a lifelong Washington Redskin (Commanders) fan. Bruce had many friends at the Wilderness Campground that became family.

A special thank you to Larry & Brenda Knight for your support and kindness shown to us. Also, a special thank you to Pastor Greg Payne for coming from Roanoke to UVA hospital to be with us.

In keeping with Bruce's wishes there will be no funeral. There will be a celebration of life held at a later date.
