Bradley “Sonny” Junior Rogers, 87, of Madison passed away Saturday, June 13, 2026 in Charlottesville.
He was born October 2, 1938 in Alexandria, Virginia (Franconia), the son of the late Gardner Mahlon Rogers and Margaret “Maggie” Struder Rogers.
He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Dolores Lee Rogers (Cooper) of Homosassa, Florida; a daughter, Patricia “Patti” Rogers Walton (Forrest) of Oak Island, North Carolina; two sons, George Mahlon Rogers (Sherri) and Kenneth “Kenny” Lynn Rogers (Juanita) of Alexandria, Virginia; six grandchildren Whitney Walton MacDaniel (Justin), Courtney Walton Watson (Greg), Chad Bradley Rogers (Annika), Nathan Taylor Rogers (Caelyn), Brandon Wayne Rogers (Tomas) and Shelby Lynn Rogers; and nine great grandchildren, Griffin, Cameron, Leimomi, Harper, Eliza, Ethan, Andrew, Lehua and Maggie.
Bradley worked in the family business, Southern Asphalt Company, Incorporated, Lorton, Virginia before relocating to Madison, Virginia. While in Madison he operated an antique business with his brother, Johnny, in downtown Madison and worked at Petes Auction Services, LLC restoring and refinishing antique furniture. He was a man who valued his independence and lived life on his own terms. While he preferred the quiet of his own company, those who knew him understood the things that brought him happiness. He had a lifelong appreciation for old cars and antiques, finding beauty and history in the craftsmanship of days gone by. He was also a devoted fan of George Jones, whose music provided the soundtrack to many moments throughout his life. Above all, he had a special place in his heart for children and animals. His kindness was often shown in simple, quiet ways, and his gentle nature was evident to those who shared in these parts of his life. He will be missed.
We would like to thank the staff, caregivers and residents at Greene Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing, Stanardsville for their care and kindness they showed Dad throughout his time there.
Bradley will be laid to rest with a graveside service at Madison Memorial Gardens, 1285 Orange Road, Pratts, Virginia on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 11:00 am. Following the service there will be a gathering with lunch at the Pig N’ Steak, 313 Washington Street, Madison, Virginia. All are welcome!
