Beverly Kay Jenkins, 75, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, at Martha Jefferson Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born at home on December 2, 1950 to parents James R. Long and Lucille W. Long.
Kay was known for loving to work in her yard, planting flowers and watching her bird feeders, and all the little animals that came in the yard. She was known for always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Kay started working on Skyline Drive at a young age and worked there for many years.
Kay is survived by her husband of 28 years, Charles William Berry; her children, Tammie Long-Campbell and husband Jacob of West Virginia, and Kenneth Carol (Ken) Atkins of Luray, Virginia; grandsons, Anthony James “AJ” Long and wife Jennie of Greene County, Virginia, Timothy Todd Davis II of Madison, Virginia; bonus grandkids, Jacob Joseph Campbell and Alexis Nichol-Adams; and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa N. Long of Greene County, Virginia. She is also survived by her sister, Pamela Long Collier and husband Otis Collier of Palmyra, Virginia; two brothers, James E. Long and wife Margaret of Rapidan, Virginia, and Larry R. Long and wife Janie of Madison, Virginia; and many nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Gary Wayne Long; a nephew, Terry Wayne Long, and a sister-in-law Catherine Long.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison.
