Betty Ann Carpenter Utz

Betty Ann Carpenter Utz, 87, of Brightwood, Va., passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Autumn Care of Madison. She was born on July 8, 1938, to the late William Nelson Carpenter and Virgie Grayson Carpenter. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Rachel Orbaugh.

Betty retired from Potomac Edison and worked for Plow & Hearth for many years afterwards.

She is survived by her husband, Robert (Bobby) Edward Utz; sons, David Edward Utz and Jerry Alan Utz; brother, Grover Nelson Carpenter; sisters, Edna Earle Utz and Judy Utz; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Utz, Brian Casey Utz, Jesse Alan Utz; great-grandchildren, Mykayla Holcyn Ratcliff, Rayan Anthony Ratcliff, Jerimiah Landon Ratcliff, Jackson Myles Ratcliff; numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Bethsaida Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Johnny Hawkins officiating.
