Betty Collier Herndon

Betty Collier Herndon, age 93, of Barboursville, Virginia, passed away on November 26, 2023.

Born on September 13, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Boggie Collier and Mamie Morris Collier. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Herndon, Jr.; son, John Wayne Herndon; four brothers, William, Hugh, Herbert and Molay; sister, Lucille Walls; and grandson, John Ross Herndon.

Betty was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  She was always there for those she loved and would do anything for them whenever they needed her.  Betty took care of her family until her last breath, and they will always remember and miss her dearly.

She is survived by her daughters; Brenda Lloyd, and Bonnie Morris (David Shifflett); daughter-in-law, Carolyn Herndon; a special sister-in-law, Linda Collier; grandchildren, Brian Lloyd, Joshua Herndon and his wife Emily, and Dawn Herndon; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Lloyd, Ryleigh, Makayla, Linzey, and Jared Herndon; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Maplewood Cemetery in Gordonsville.
