Betty Anne (Hutton) Cullop, 94, of Brightwood, VA., passed into God’s loving arms on Friday, June 5, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Cullop, Sr., her sister, Bonnie (Sue) Tipton, and her great-granddaughter, Morgan Yancey. Betty leaves behind one brother, William Tipton, and one sister, Debbie Tipton, both residents of Maryland.
Matriarch of a large family that included five children: Linda Cullop; Michael Cullop and his wife Donna; Trish (Cullop) Doggett and her partner, John Lohr; Edward Cullop and his wife, Elaine; Tammy (Cullop) Graves, and her husband, Mike. Grandmother to Michelle Corbin; Kristee Kelly; Melissa Arrington; Zachary Cullop; and Austin Read. And, bonus Grandmother to Brian Timmons; Lisa (Timmons) Pokphanh; Katie (Graves) Petty; and Kristen Graves. Great Grandmother to Emma and Ame Corbin; Grace Johnson; Cambden Payne; Coleman Blanche; Eli and Norah Kelly; Abby Shifflett; Ava Pokphanh; Kate and Parker Timmons; and Braiden Cave.
She was devoted to her family and the countless children she cared for during the twenty-plus years that she maintained a daycare in her home. She loved them all, and they kept her young at heart. Her love and service to those children was generational as she ultimately became a caregiver to the children of the children she cared for over the years. There is no greater gift to a parent than to leave their children in the care of someone they love and trust.
Betty led a quiet, modest life. She worked hard every day and found great joy in working in her flower gardens and maintaining the home she loved so much.
She was deeply loved by so many, adults and children alike. She will be missed beyond measure.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison with Pastor Jeff Shifflett officiating. Interment will be in Madison Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at the funeral home.
