Benjamin Francis Johnson "Benny", 68, of Madison, passed on with the Lord, Friday, August 22, 2025, at his home. He was born on April 1, 1957, to the late Benjamin Blair Johnson and Maggie Frances Creel Short. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Lenard Johnson and William Edward Johnson, and his sister, Dora Jean Mittan.
Benny was known for his contagious laugh, his sense of humor, and his love for Jesus Christ. He was a construction worker for Charles Hutchind, who was his long-time friend for 50 years. Benny enjoyed gardening and landscaping, singing and playing his guitar in church, but most of all spending time with his family. He was a member of New Life Tabernacle.
He was survived by his wife, Sheila Beahm Johnson, for 47 years. Daughter Amanda Johnson Alfred and husband David. Son Jonathan Wesley Johnson and wife Chelse. Brothers James B. Johnson, Gary Johnson. Sisters Mary Sirio and husband Steve, JoAnn Sholes and husband James. Grandchildren: Luke Richards, Layla Johnson, Lyric Johnson, Liyah Johnson, Dylan Alfred, Helena Alfred, and Nora Alfred. And a very special sister-in-law, Bonnie Johnson.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison conducted by Pastor Wayne Shelton and Daniel Rider. The family will receive friends and family from 3:00 to 5:00pm at the funeral home.
