Anthony Lewis Utz

Jul 21, 1959 — Jun 24, 2026

Etlan

Anthony Lewis “Tony” Utz went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2026. Tony was born on July 21, 1959. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Utz; his father, Thelbert Utz; and his sister, Sharon Utz.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sherrie Utz; his son, Chad Utz and wife, Melinda; and his daughter, Jody Seale and husband, Junior. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Huntlyn Grace, Abigail Faith, and Levi Bryant.

Throughout his life, Tony was proud of many accomplishments, but nothing brought him greater joy and pride than his children and grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren dearly, and they loved their Granddaddy just as much. Tony had a passion for farming and enjoyed spending countless hours caring for his cattle. Whether he was working on the farm, tending his garden, or spending time with his grandchildren, he found joy in the simple things. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He also had a love for hunting, especially turkey hunting, which was his favorite way to spend a spring morning. After 37 years of dedicated service, Tony retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in 2024. Tony will be remembered for his kindness, his ability to make people smile, his strong work ethic, and his unwavering devotion to his family. His presence, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
