Annie Mae Carpenter

Born on March 29, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Edward Washington Ladd Sr. and Patsy Estes Ladd. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Andrew Allen Carpenter; her brothers, Edward Washington Ladd, Jr, George Ladd, Eugene Douglas Ladd, and Roy Linwood Ladd; and her sisters, Florence Moyer, Lorene Dollins, and Betty Jane Allen.

Annie is survived by her son, Michael Allen Carpenter (Sharon), of Zion Crossroads, Virginia; her daughter, Karen Ann Brown (Clifford), of Gordonsville, Virginia; and her brother, Howard Lewis Ladd (Paula), of Hartfield, Virginia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Gary Hunley (Kristen), Shannon Amos, Elaine Trotman, and Alyssa Blackstock (E.W.); and her great-grandchildren, Meadow, Skylar, Willowmae, River, Ireson, Paxton, Vera Grace, Emma, Grace, Alex, Xen, Rinn, and Oakley; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville. Burial will follow immediately at Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m.
